STREET TOURING (STS/STX)

STREET TOURING Supplemental Classes (STS2 & STU)

STS2 Class:

STS2 will follow the STS rule set, but the eligible cars will be restricted to two-seaters with engine displacements of 1.8 liters or less. This class will provide a home for a number of popular vehicles, including the Honda CRX and del Sol, Mazda RX7 (non-turbo, '79-'92) and Miata ('90-'97), Toyota MR2 ('85-'89), as well as other similar vehicles. STS category rules 14.1 to 14.10 apply. Further, as in STS, only original equipment viscous limited slip differentials are legal in STS-2. Excluded vehicles include Lotus (all), Mazda Miata (99+), and Toyota MR2 ('91-'95 and '00+).

STU Class:

STU will follow the STX rule set, but will raise the displacement limit for otherwise STX-legal vehicles to 3.1 liters for forced induction and to unlimited displacement for natural aspiration. To accommodate the greater power of these vehicles, restrictions on wheel width are lifted and the maximum tire width will be increased to 275 for front or rear wheel drive vehicles (but will remain at 245 for AWD vehicles). Other than these limited exceptions, the STX rule set as described in 14.11 applies. This class extends the Street Touring concept to cars including the Audi S4, BMW M3 (E36), Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Neon SRT-4, Ford Mustang, Mazda RX-8, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. 8, Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac GTO, Subaru WRX STi, Volvo S60 R, and Toyota Supra. Excluded vehicles include the E46 M3 and the E39 M5.

STREET MODIFIED

The Street Modified Rules are identical to the SCCA Solo Street Modified rules. See the Solo Rulebook for details.

The following condensed list of allowable modifications is for your information only. The official reference source will be The SCCA Solo rulebook.

1. Cars may run any DOT legal tires.
2. Vehicles must be legally registered, been originally equipped with seating for 4
and not sports car based.
3. Headers, lowering springs and aerodynamic devices are allowed.
4. Engine swaps are allowed from the same manufacturer. (e.g. Acura engine in a Honda)
5. Subframe connectors are legal.
6. Drivetrain items are free (Including turbos and superchargers, but not including nitrous oxide).

STREET MODIFIED 2

The Street Modified 2 Rules are identical to the SCCA Solo Street Modified 2 rules. See the Solo Rulebook for details.

The following condensed list of allowable modifications is for your information only. The official reference source will be the SCCA Solo rulebook.

The same preparation allowances described in Street Modified are allowed for most 2 seat sports cars

INDEXED CLASSES

All classes are scored using the current nationally based PAX factors. These classes cannot be used in conjunction with Novice or Double classes:

Street Tire - (sometimes shortened to "Tire" class) - Open to any automobile using standard street tires. Soft compound, DOT approved racing tires are not legal. If a question arises at an event about the legality of a particular tire, the Board members present will decide. The class will be designated by a T preceding the car's regular competition class (i.e. TASP would be Street Tire - A Street Prepared).

Ladies - Open to any female driver. The class will be designated by an L preceding the car's regular class (LCP would be Ladies - C Prepared).

Novice Class - Novice Class times shall be determined by a PAX index. There is no year-end Championship for the Novice class. No entrant may compete in this class for more than 6 events. Soft compound, DOT approved racing tires or racing slicks are not legal. If a question arises at an event about the legality of a particular tire, the Board members present will decide. The class will be designated by a N preceding the car's regular competition class.

X Class - This is a "Pro" class and is open to any driver. This class is intended for persons seeking the highest levels of competition in the Spokes championship series. This class will be designated by a X preceding the car's regular competition class (i.e. XCS would be X-class C Stock).

DOUBLE ENTRY CLASS

1. All entrants that enter the event twice must enter in the D-class as one of their entries.
2. Entry fee for running in D-class will be in addition to your first entry. Register twice, pay twice.
3. The D-class is not a competitive class, will not show up in the Pax or Raw time results, and does not have a points race or Year End Championship.
4. D-class runs must be taken in a heat that occurs after your regular competition class runs.
5. Eligibility to run your extra entry is dependent upon your arrival at the event site no later than 7:15am to help with trailer unpacking and course setup. If you show up later than 7:15am then your second entry will be removed from the list, even if you already pre-registered. No exceptions!
6. D-class work assignments include both setup in the morning and teardown in the evening. You are running twice so you must work twice, before and after the event.
7. D-class is reserved to pre-register only. If you wish to double-enter the event you must pre-register both of your entries. Do not show up to registration and request to run D-class. Registration closes the Friday before the event so you have plenty of time to decide whether you are running D or not.
8. Only one class prefix will be allowed on your vehicle on a given run. Class prefixes include T, N, X, and D. Multiple prefixes confuse timing and scoring and may result in your times being disqualified. For example if you regularly run AS in the Tire class, do not show up to the line with DTAS on your car, mark your car as TAS for your regular competition runs and DAS for your Double runs. Please remove the extra class prefix before showing up at the start line or you will be sent back to grid.
9. The class prefix must be placed immediately before your class when displayed on your car. For example: DAS is correct. ASD is not correct. Don’t make the T/S job any harder by making them hunt for letters on your car.
